JOB TITLE: Environmental Impact Program Manager                                                   DEPARTMENT: International Ops
LOCATION: Glendora, CA
REPORTS TO: Dir. of Monitoring

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Environmental Impact Program Manager will be responsible for assisting in the development of the overall monitoring strategy, standardization, and program oversight. This position focuses on standardizing M&E systems across all nations and establishing a comprehensive environmental survey program. They will be based out of the Glendora, CA office and report directly to the Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL).

Standardization

  • Develop a comprehensive MEAL forest survey system and research program that includes baseline. environmental surveys, time series surveys, and natural regeneration surveys.
  • Create templates for each survey set that can be used across all nations.
  • Support survey teams internationally in all project nations in order to achieve standardization.
  • Build Eden’s credibility through science-based data collection and reporting efforts.
  • Process and store all field data as site specific and create Eden averages and standards.

Project Site Monitoring and Verification

  • Support and manage a monitoring and verification maturation calendar for all partner groups and nations as a means for the MEAL and operations team to prepare for timely reporting.
  • Lead the development of the adequate data assessment platform and its utilization and training (with IT director).
  • Provide polygon maps and GPS photo verification support for partner groups as needed by the Development Department.
  • Work on GIS/remote sensing mapping/data management.
  • Ensure all nations are equipped with the appropriate technical equipment needed.
  • Assist with the writing of partner monitoring reports as needed.
  • Assist with partner monitoring field visits and training as needed.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with your corresponding overseas coordinators to ensure accurate and timely data and processes.
  • Develop and meet department metrics on survey collection
  • Manage members of the MEAL team as appropriate
  • Provide and organize polygon maps as needed.
  • Assist with writing monitoring reports.
  • oversee the remote sensing arm of MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning)
  • Develop and maintain a steady stream of data from the field in order to build Eden’s credibility, substantiate claims, and identify challenges and areas for growth and improvement.
  • Support and manage a finance, monitoring, and verification maturation calendar, ensuring partner reports are being delivered on time

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience with GIS mapping software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Cross cultural relational skills
  • Willingness to travel

  • Preferred prior experience in manager-level roles
  • Preferred experience teaching or training people in environmental field practices with varying levels of educational background/experience/English proficiency
